'Superman's Elaborate New Popcorn Bucket Divides Fans on Social Media

We're just a little over a month away from the release of James Gunn's Superman , and while reactions to trailers, clips, and posters for the first chapter in the new DCU have been mostly positive, fans are feeling very conflicted about one of its popcorn buckets. Images of the new snack receptacle hit the internet today, and honestly, it's one of the most creative we’ve seen in a while.

Showcasing a popcorn machine that holds all your tasty morsels of buttery goodness, the elaborate bucket (seen below) has Superman on the outside looking in as his heat ray smashes through the container to heat up the kettle that holds the popcorn kernels. It's pretty awesome, really, but not everyone is impressed with the big reveal.

"Ok these are getting a little out of control," said @imgoingtoduck on X. "I feel like they have jumped the shark with these popcorn buckets," added @JollyRogX. User @bo086432 chimed in to say they "couldn’t have designed a more horrible" bucket, while @DaveyJ_ sounds like they have some pent-up anger to let go of:

"This will work great hurled at the back of someone's head during the climax of the film."

Yet for all the negativity, there are legions of people that can't wait to get their hands on the Superman popcorn bucket. Take @Vestoriin for example, who says: "Honestly, this popcorn bucket slaps harder than Zod's World Engine." Lots of other folks added to the discussion by simply saying, "Need," while @facts_matter3 went a little more in depth about why it appeals to them:

"Phenomenal job incorporating Superman elements. The design on this one really is impeccable that stands out from so many movie buckets which are just big mouths of movie characters."

U.S. Fans Are Still Waiting for Their 'Superman' Popcorn Bucket

Sadly, as great as the new Superman popcorn bucket is, it's only being offered by Vue Theaters in the U.K., so U.S. fans are out of luck unless they have a friend that can ship it to them. The cinema chain released the news today, highlighting the new snack holder as being just one of many they'll be offering when Superman hits the big screen, with others including a light-up cup, a standard bucket with David Corenswet's mug plastered on it, and a gripper cup that mimics Superman's iconic outfit, complete with cape.

Thus far, chains in the U.S. like Regal and AMC have yet to announce what they have in store for Superman fans, so we'll still have to wait a little while longer to feast our eyes on their collectibles. There's no doubt that they have something special planned, but whether it matches the awesomeness of the one offered by Vue remains to be seen.

Superman hits theaters on July 11, 2025, and you can buy your tickets now for what promises to be one of the biggest movies of the summer. Early projections have it on track to bring in anywhere between $150 and $175 million dollars domestically, which would be a huge opening weekend for the superhero flick, and go a long way toward helping earn back its reported budget of $225 million dollars .
