Padres minors: Kyle Hart takes loss in El Paso, Luis Patiño starts strong for Missions

Left-hander Kyle Hart allowed four runs in five innings in his return to Triple-A El Paso in a 6-4 loss to visiting Albuquerque on Thursday.

Hart walked three batters and paid for it, giving up two home runs. He is 2-1 with a 3.28 ERA, 20 strikeouts and 18 walks in 24⅔ innings in the minors.

A .209 opponent average has been a saving grace in the minors.

Hart had a 6.66 ERA in 25⅔ innings in the majors.

Right-hander Bradgley Rodriguez (9.00 ERA) allowed a run on two hits in his El Paso debut. The 21-year-old had a 3.22 ERA in 22⅓ innings to start the year at Double-A San Antonio and threw 1⅔ scoreless innings in the majors before he was optioned to El Paso this week.

First baseman Tim Locastro (.940 OPS) drove in three runs on three hits and both center fielder Bryce Johnson (.853 OPS) and third baseman Mike Brosseau (.678 OPS) both had two hits.

El Paso is 30-30.

Missions 4, Midland 2: RHP Luis Patiño (0.00 ERA) struck out three and allowed an unearned run in four innings in the start, his second since moving to the Texas League in his return from Tommy John surgery. RHP Eduarniel Nuñez (2-1, 3.80 ERA) struck out two over a scoreless inning. RHP Enmanuel Pinales (8.59 ERA) earned the save with one run allowed over four innings. C Anthony Vilar (.614 OPS) drove in two runs on a double. 3B Devin Ortiz (.718 OPS) went 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored. RF Joshua Mears (.585 OPS) went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored.

HIGH SINGLE-A FORT WAYNE (27-27)

Beloit 5, TinCaps 4: SS Leo De Vries (.761 OPS) went 1-for-5 with a double and a run scored. 3B Rosman Verdugo (.827 OPS) went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI. DH Kai Roberts (.625 OPS) and C Victor Duarte (.661 OPS) both had two hits. RHP Cole Paplham (0.00 ERA) struck out a batter in a scoreless inning. RHP Jose Luis Ryes (5.54 ERA) allowed four runs in 3⅔ innings.

LOW SINGLE-A LAKE ELSINORE (27-27)

Storm 11, Modesto 5: LHP Boston Bateman (4-3, 3.79 ERA) struck out five and allowed a run on four hits and two walks in five innings in the win. SS Ryan Jackson (.904 OPS) drove in three runs on two hits and 1B Victor Figueroa (.967 OPS) drove in two runs on two doubles. LF Kaden Hollow (.750 OPS), C Carlos Rodriguez (.817 OPS) and RF B.Y. Choi (.630 OPS) all had doubles.

ROOKIE DSL BROWN (3-0)

Padres 5, Astros 3 (7): 2B Darian Castillo (1.045 OPS) drove in two runs on two hits. SS Jose Verdugo (1.267 OPS) went 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored. RHP Dalvi Nuñez (1.80 ERA) struck out six and allowed a run in five innings in the start.

ROOKIE DSL GOLD (2-1)

Brewers 6, Padres 1: CF Moises Valdez (.517 OPS) went 2-for-4 with a walk. 2B Jhoan De La Cruz (.824 OPS) went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. RHP Florangel Vásquez (3.91 ERA) struck out four over three shutout innings to end the game.
