Edwardsville will celebrate the 27th annual Route 66 Festival on June 7 at City Park.

This year's event features family activities, car cruising, live music, trolley tours, author and history exhibits and more.

Here is when every event begins during the festival:

Get ready to boogie

The highlight of the festival is the live entertainment that's available throughout the festival.

Multiple bands will take the stage to perform to help participants enjoy tunes or "boogie the day away."

These are the bands that will perform during this year's festival:

  • Matt Taul Band- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Miss Jubilee - 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Butch Wax & the Hollywoods - 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Sonically Pleasing - 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Chaz45- 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Go for a run

The Route 66 10K run , sponsored by the Metro Millers Running Club, begins at 8 a.m.

Registration is required; the cost is $40.

The award ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Awards will be presented by age groups and all registrants receive a shirt and "finisher swag" item.

Enjoy the car show

Car lovers can check out hundreds of vehicles of all makes and models.

Festival-goers can also talk to the owners to learn more about the vehicles.

Cars Through the Decades, which showcases vehicles from the decades when Route 66 ran through the city and multiple military vehicles, also returns to this year's festival.

Those cars will also go on a cruise through town beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Roadside Market and food options

A roadside market featuring dozens of artisan vendors opens at 10 a.m.

Twenty-eight vendors are expected to participate and offer crafts, boutique items, and more.

The market will be open from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The event also features 11 food vendors. Food will be served from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Food vendors include Annie's, Sour Puss Lemonade, Romeo BBQ, Mahalo Shaved Ice, Takozz, Heatrz, Ray Ray's Keetle Corn, Hi-Pointe Burgers, Overboard, Global Brew, and Bin 51.

Get a taste of Route 66

The Taste of 66 Experience tent is open from noon to 5 p.m. and offers food that "hearken back to restaurant favorites featured during Edwardsville's Route 66 era," according to the city website.

Ed's Delicatessen, Alexandra's Pierogi, 222 Artisan Bakery, and City Scoops will offer treats to bring Route 66's history to life.

The cost is $5 and tickets can be purchased at the Parks & Recreation ticket and information booth.

Kid Zone

A special kid zone opens at 10 a.m. and features bounce houses and face painting.

A petting zoo also opens from 1 to 5 p.m.

The cost to enter kid zone is $10 and a wristband is required. It can be purchased at the Parks & Recreation ticket and information booth.

Authors, trolleys, and history on display

Festival goers can take a trolley ride around town from 1 to 5 p.m. The tour lasts 40 minutes.

The cost for the trolley ride is $5 and the ride begins in from of the Public Works Building at 200 E. Park St.

Also during the event, attendees can check out displays, exhibits and photos showing Edwardsville throughout the years.

The Edwardsville Historic Preservation Commission, Friends of Leclaire, and Madison County Historical Society will be present to provide answers and information about the city's history.

Several authors who have written books about Edwardsville and Route 66 will be on hand, too.
