New Richmond's Grant Harrison repeats as OHSAA pole vaulting state champion
The first day of the Ohio High School Athletic Association 's outdoor track and field meet was another historic one for New Richmond senior Grant Harrison.
Harrison, a University of Kentucky commit , broke the Division II state meet record with a vault of 16 feet 7 inches, winning his third pole vaulting state title. Harrison was the outdoor state champion in the event in 2024 and won an indoor state title in March.

Three pole vaulters made the jump at 14 feet 10 inches, but all three failed to clear 15 feet 2 inches. Harrison made his opening jump of the day at 15 feet 6 inches, missing his first attempt before clearing the second for the state title. He then cleared jumps of 16 feet and 16 feet 7 inches to set the meet mark.
Wyoming's Penelope Webb finishes third in final high jump
Wyoming senior Penelope Webb, a two-time state runner-up in the high jump and the state champion in the event in 2024, placed third in her final go in the event in 2025.
Webb cleared 5 foot 2 inches, 5 foot 4 inches and 5 foot 5 inches, missing only one attempt at those levels. With the bar raised to 5 foot 6 inches, Webb missed on her opportunities which put her behind Fairfield Union's Christian Thompson and Graham's Taylor Aldredge.
Aldredge finished as runner-up after failing to improve to on the 5 foot 6 inch mark while Thompson, who was the state runner-up behind Webb last year, cleared a jump at 5 foot 8 inches.
Lakota East's Landyn Bomar repeats as seated division shot put champ
Lakota East senior Landyn Bomar is a champion again.
Bomar, who competes in the seated division of the track and field meet, set a personal record on his final throw in the shot put to win the state title for the second-straight year.
Each of Bomar's six throws were good enough to take first place, but the senior saved his best for last with a toss coming in at 23 feet 11.50 inches.
