Meghan Markle and the late Queen’s shared unusual passion
Meghan Markle and the late Queen Elizabeth appear to have shared a passion for a novel way of presenting fruit.
Former royal chef Darren McGrady explained the unusual method he would prepare exotic fruit for the late monarch, which chimed with a previously unreleased clip of Meghan Markle’s Netflix show that was recently revealed by the Duchess.
In a resurfaced video, McGrady explained that exotic fruits like pineapple could seem "daunting" on the Royal dining table "until you saw how the Queen (ate) pineapple".
It came as the Duchess of Sussex shared a clip that "didn't make it in" to her show, With Love, Meghan, that perhaps unknowingly drew parallels to McGrady's techniques with her own method of serving fruit.
The former chef, who spent years preparing meals for the Royal Family, revealed on his YouTube channel there was a specific art to presenting the tropical fruit at regal events.
In a demonstration, McGrady showed the precise method he used when preparing pineapple for the Queen and her guests. The process began with slicing off the top of the fruit and removing the core, The Mirror reported.
Following what McGrady called the "royal way", the pineapple was cut into neat ring slices with the middle removed.
The Queen had these slices presented inside the hollowed-out pineapple "shell", complete with its crown reattached.
McGrady noted that this intricate presentation ensured eating pineapple remained "an elegant, hassle-free experience".
True to royal protocol, the Queen would consume the fruit using a knife and fork, never with her hands.
The fruit was uniformly cut into small pieces, maintaining the formality expected at royal dining occasions.
McGrady’s insight drew instant parallels to a recently unveiled and never-before-seen clip from the Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix show.
In the clip shared on her Instagram, Meghan was presenting food alongside wellness therapist Randi Karin.
The pair were seen cutting fruit together, with Meghan revealing a pineapple preparation technique she had learnt.
Meghan demonstrated the technique by following the natural diagonal patterns on the pineapple's surface.
"When nature has given you all the cues on how to have a perfect taste of something," she explained before popping a piece of the freshly cut fruit into her mouth.

Randi Karin responded enthusiastically, saying "How fun is that. I love it," before attempting the method herself.
"Alright, is this going to work?" the wellness therapist asked as she tried the technique.
Karin's use of Meghan's trick worked perfectly, and she was able to pop out a piece just like the Duchess of Sussex had demonstrated.
Meghan captioned the Instagram post by explaining the clip's origins as unused footage from the first series.
"There was so much goodness on Season 1 of 'With Love, Meghan' on @netflix that didn't make it in, there just wasn't enough time," she wrote.
