One of Stockton's oldest standing businesses is considering moving.
The owner of Genova Bakery, Tim Canevari, said an increase in crime is pushing them out.

Genova Bakery has been in the same spot for more than a century but now the Canevari is considering changing its location.
Canevari said there is one bullet hole on the side of the building and another that pierced through a wall and into the breakroom.

Thankfully, no one was hurt, but the close calls are causing concern for him and his staff.
"I'm concerned with their safety. I want them to come to work, and I want them to be able to go home from work," Canevari said.
Aside from shootings, he also notices prostitutes in broad daylight and at night outside the bakery.
"I watched three prostitutes get out of the same car and and start business in front of the bakery when it was still daylight," Canevari said.
Cheron Ames, a customer at Genova Bakery for more than a decade, said she hopes the bakery stays in the same spot, but agrees that the crime in the area needs to stop.
"Nobody wants to pull up and see that stuff, you know what I mean? So you don't know what might happen. You just got to watch your back and side and keep on going," Ames said.
Dennis Menacho said he's been a customer for 10 years. Menacho said he's heartbroken that potentially relocating is what it's come to, but he understands.
"I don't know what else he can do. I know he's got bars on the windows and an alarm system, but there has to be a way. Criminals are criminals, you know that...it's hard to stop them," Menacho said.
According to Stockton police, from January to May in 2024 there were 200 calls for service and 23 total reports taken around the area of the bakery, compared to 138 calls and 24 total reports so far this year.
In June 2024 and March 2025 police also conducted prostitution missions near the bakery.
Canevari said he has reached out to the city and Stockton police about the crime nearby.
He said Stockton police observation trucks would be placed nearby, but otherwise there is no real permanent solution.
